JDF vows to intensify presence as St James erupts

The Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) has declared its intentions to deploy more troops to the troubled areas of St James, following a chaotic upsurge in violent crimes throughout the parish.

The parish of St James has seen a explosion of violent crimes in the past few  weeks, with a number of shooting incidents this week alone.

Even with Prime Minister Andrew Holness’ symbolic tour of the most troubled areas within the parish, and a heightened security presence, there were still over nine shooting incidents over the the weekend.

Head of the JDF, Major General Antony Anderson announced the move to heighten the army’s presence in the second city during a press conference following Prime Minister Holness’ visit.
