JaRIA starts Reggae Month with free Chris Martin concert at Mandela Park

February is celebrated annually in Jamaica as Reggae Month.

Organizers at The Jamaica Reggae Industry Association (JaRIA) kicked off their celebrations on Wednesday with a free concert at the Nelson Mandela Park, Half Way Tree Kingston, Jamaica.

The event dubbed “Reggae Mecca: Di Root,” celebrated the life of the late “Crown Prince of Reggae Dennis Brown and featured Chris Martin, Marla Brown, Warrior King, Jah 9, Christopher Ellis, Prophecy, Lymie Murray, Richie Stephens, George Nooks, Big Youth, Bongo Herman, Ken Boothe, D Major and Samoryi.

The 2017 Reggae Month celebrations includes a slew of activities such as; a sound system performance, Reggae open University, and a Sunday series on mento.
