Jamaican Talents Leave Mark On Nicki Minaj’s ‘Queen’ Album

Nicki Minaj has paid homage to her Caribbean roots as her latest studio album “Queen” featured the touches of several top Jamaican producers.

The Trinidadian rapper dropped her highly anticipated 19-track album last Friday to much fanfare following a three and a half year spell without any major releases.

The project features the work of some of the biggest producers in the industry including ace Jamaican beatmakers Matthew “Boi-1Da” Samuels and Dwayne “Supa Dups” Chin-Quee who both made their marks.

Last Friday Supa Dups, who previously worked with several international superstars including Drake, Sean Paul, and Rihanna took to Instagram to confirm his work on the project.

Samuels, who is another producer who has worked extensively with fellow Young Money/Cash Money superstar Drizzy in the past, is credited for his work on the track “Hard White.”

The two standout singles are hardly the end of the Jamaican connection either as the rapper also samples veteran Jamaican producer Dave Kelly’s 1998 hit rhythm “Showtime” for “Coco Chanel,” which features Foxy Brown.

Nicki Minaj is no stranger to collaborating with Jamaican talent as she previously worked with several Dancehall artistes in the past including Beenie Man, Mavado, and Gyptian.
