Jah Vinci has always had a positive, jovial personality, but signing to the Notnice Records label late last year has put an extra pep in his step.

The Affi Mek It singer revealed that he has been working as an independent artiste for some time and longed for a team with the right vision to further propel his career on the mainstream market.

Jah Vinci attained prominence in 2009 with his first major hit song Watch Your Friends, produced by Ainsley ‘Notnice’ Morris, and has released other notable tracks with Morris, including, In My Life, Mama Love, and Oh Jah Jah. It makes sense that the two have joined forces on this venture.

“The musical chemistry was already there, so I guess you can call it destiny. Now everything that we put out is presented better. We’ve rebranded. Notnice has resources and has access to certain videographers, so you’ll notice that even the music videos are cleaner and have a more international look,” he said.

One of the videos is for the single If They Knew, a collaboration with JaFrass, which has surpassed 300,000 YouTube views since it was released two weeks ago.

He is also featured on Celebration, a track recorded by Quada, which is nearing four million views on YouTube since it premiered in October.

Jah Vinci is not stopping here as his electrifying set at Popcaan’s Unruly Fest in St Thomas in December has given him a boost.

“A lot of people gave me props for that performance, and it’s like it reminded some people about who Jah Vinci is. I’ve been getting a lot of bookings since that time, ” he said just hours after returning from a stint of shows in the United States.

He is currently gearing up for his performance at the Faawud A Ochi stage show at Pearly Beach, Ocho Rios, on April 13.
