Jah Cure’s Apology Rejected By Dancehall Selectors

Several Dancehall/Reggae selectors are still threatening to boycott Jah Cure’s music.

The Grammy-nominated artist issued a well-written apology on Monday night which read;

“I would like to apologize to my fans, friends and family. I am human and like many others, I’ve been dealing with so many various issues in this thing we call life and I let it get the best of me. I used social media and I lashed out, I generalized using the term sound boy when it wasn’t meant generally.  I understand that, as a public figure, I am held to a higher standard of conduct and I do want to set the right example for my daughter.

To the Djs and fans that have supported me over the years I apologize for the language, unwarranted accusations and the things said. I realise it was over the top and unnecessary…. I took the actions and words of a few and shifted it to many. I’m passionate and while that transfers great in my music at times it doesn’t do so well for social media. See wid the Rasta!

We all have our challenges but I have a duty, Jah said create good music and that is what I shall do.”

However selectors say it was not sincere and demand the Cure to upload a video publicly retracting his derogatory comments.

“Yuh nuh see Jah Cure tek wi fi idiot? Him do a bagga video a diss wi den mek PR write apology,” one selector wrote. “I personally will not accept this, its clear he had no part in his statement, the artiste need fi speak out like how him did loud when him a violate,” another said.

Videos have since surfaced online of selectors deleting Jah Cure’s songs from their playlists.

Jah Cure angered the music fraternity earlier this week when he disrespected selectors who he referred to as ‘sound boys’ in a series of videos uploaded on social media.

“A matter of fact, sound bwoy s**k unu muma!,” the ‘Unconditional Love’ singer said in a video posted to his Instagram story. “Me name Jah Cure mi rich more…. than three-quarter a unu friend dem inna the industry. P***y mi nuh need dubplate money fi live.”

In another upload, Jah Cure chimed in saying, “Sound clash fraternity have the most waste man. Unu cheap and cyaan even afford artiste, unu talk bout boycott. P***y Mi rich, mi nuh need unu. Memba mi tell yuh, all ah unu who mek video, mi respect unu fi it. Mi ah guh si how long unu ah guh escape without beating. How dem cheap sound bwoy ah disrespect ’bout boycott? Mi nuh need unu.”
