Dancehall artiste Rytikal’s camp is maintaining his innocence ahead of a return to court this Friday.

Rytikal, whose real name is Rohan McFarlane, has been charged with illegal possesion of firearm. Last week he was arrested after cops found a .380 pistol with 12 rounds of ammunition found in his car.

According to reports, the entertainer was approached by cops in 8 Miles, Bull Bay after arousing suspicion. The 25-year-old was questioned, his car searched and the weapon found in the vehicle.

However, according to sources within the deejay’s camp the weapon did not actually belong to the deejay.

“The gun was in the car, Rytikal was doing video shoots at the time, and a whole heap of people forward inna the car during that time, so he will be pleading innocent to the charges,” they claimed.

Co-incidentally, Rytikal is only the latest Dancehall star to be arrested on gun charges in recent months. Other acts currently behind bars include, Laden, Tommy Lee Sparta, and 4th Genna artiste Shokryme.

Rytikal is best known for being a part of the popular Eastsyde camp which also features Skillibeng. He was one of the breakout acts for 2020, scoring several hits such as Cookie Jar, King Inna War, and Brawling.

Since his arrest, other Dancehall acts such as Kranium have reacted on social media offering their support. Kranium was one of the first to call for the deejay’s release saying, “Free Rytikal #faith.”
