Inspector killed in hit-and-run accident in Trelawny

A police inspector was tragically killed in a hit-and-run accident in Trelawny on Friday afternoon.

According to reports, inspector Mark Gibbs of a Cornwall Courts address in St James, was mowed down during a routine spot check operation in front of the Clarke’s Town Police Station.

It is alleged that the cop was deliberately mowed down by the driver of a Toyota Corolla, who reportedly hit the cop after being signaled to stop.

Inspector Gibbs was reportedly rushed to hospital but was later pronounced dead.

Cops have reportedly detained a suspect in connection with the hit-and-run accident, however the suspect’s identity was not released.
