Idris Elba and his girlfriend Sabrina Dhowre are engaged.
The 45-year-old actor popped the question on Saturday at Rio Cinema in London, before a screening of his big screen directorial debut Yardie.
Video of the proposal was shared by a moviegoer on Instagram too, showing Elba on one knee before standing and being embraced by Dhowre.
The two have been for less than a year. The engagement comes as something as a surprise, and not just because the relationship is still so new. Elba, who has been married twice before, said recently that he would probably never do it again.
“Am I ever gonna get remarried? I don’t think so,” he said in July. “Marriage is an institution of sorts. And I’ve done it. It’s not for everybody. It’s not my life’s calling.”
