Hurricane Irma Leaves 3 Dead, 2.1 Million Without Power In Florida

Hurricane Irma has left at least three people dead, including a sheriff’s deputy in Florida.

Hurricane Irma hit land on the southwest Florida coast after making landfall in the Florida Keys Sunday morning. At least one of the crashes was caused by high winds, that crash left a man dead Monroe County after his truck wrapped around a tree, ABC News reports.

Around 11 a.m. Sunday, the storm passed through the Keys leaving at least 2.1 million people without power. As of now it is continuing up the western coastline of Florida with winds of up to 115 mph.

Florida Keys officials stated that residents who evacuated should not return home until further notice.

Officials says 22 people were killed in the Caribbean by Hurricane Irma, the death toll is now at 25.
