Gunmen Relocate From Mount Salem To Westmoreland

Members of the Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) has disclosed that several high ranking gang members from the Mount Salem community in St James have fled to nearby parishes including Westmoreland since the Zone of Special Operations (ZOSO) has been imposed.

According to Major Dameon Creary, the key members of the four primary gangs which operate within Mount Salem area have fled the community and taken up refuge in other areas such as neighbouring Rose Heights and Whithorn in Westmoreland.

Cops say they have identified the four main gangs which operate within the community as the Temple Gang, the Alliance Gang, Junglist and the United Gang.

Earlier this month Mount Salem was declared as the first Zone of Special Operations, after reports claiming that as many as 54 murders had been committed within the community since the start of the year, however, this was strongly disputed by residents and later proven to be just seven.
