The Jamaican government has launched a Reggae Month App.

The Minister of Entertainment, Olivia’ Babsy’ Grange, recently announced the development of app.

The project was done in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism and will be officially rolled out in February 2020.

The app will allow promoters of all genres of Jamaican music to add their events to the list of festivities. It will also enable music lovers to keep abreast of all happenings during Reggae Month 2020.

The app will list all the events organized by the Jamaican Government and those endorsed by the Reggae Month Secretariat.

“For Reggae Month, we are encouraging those promoters who have not yet registered their events with the Reggae Month Secretariat to do so and get featured on the app, once the event is of a suitable standard,” Grange said.

The Minister went on to disclose plans to keep the app beyond the one month period, as it would beneficial to “all things Reggae, all throughout the year.”

Grange’s optimism was also shared by President of the Jamaica Reggae Industry Association (JaRIA) Ewan Simpson. He cited that the app could prove useful for entertainment events in general.
