Entertainer George Nooks is scheduled to return to court next week Thursday, May 24, when his trial for possession of cocaine is expected to get underway.

Nooks, who is being represented by attorneys-at-law Tom Tavares Finson and Donahue Martin, was arrested one year ago for breaches of the Dangerous Drugs Act.

The 56-year-old singer was charged with possession of cocaine after lawmen say they observed Nooks acting in a manner that aroused their suspicion. Reports are that Nooks was stopped by the police who searched a bag that he was carrying. The bag was found to contain just under two ounces of cocaine.

However, there have been conflicting reports surrounding where the actual arrest was made. Initial reports are that the ‘God Is Standing By’ singer was in Widcombe Heights, St Andrew, at the time of the arrest, but later reports stated that Nooks was arrested at the Duhaney Park Shopping Plaza

Nooks’ lawyers have been given the go-ahead to review the Duhaney Park Police Station’s narcotics and crime diaries from the period May 4 to 10, 2017.

According to the attorney, this request will allow the defence to review the documented events surrounding the case.
