George Nooks Appears In Court For Drug Charge

George Nooks appeared in the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court in Half-Way-Tree on Wednesday.

The 56-year-old gospel singer was charged with possession of cocaine back in May. According to police report, Nooks was spotted acting in a suspicious manner by lawmen during an operation in his St Andrew community shortly after 9:00 pm.

He was accosted and a bag he was carrying searched. The bag was found to contain approximately two ounces of cocaine. Yesterday Nooks had his bail extended after the case was rescheduled to March 27, 2018 by  Judge Vaughn Smith.

The “God is Standing By” singer is being represented by Queen’s Counsel Tom Tavares-Finson and Donahue Martin Junior. Judge Smith advised Nooks’s legal team that the case should be tried in the Drug Treatment Court. However, Martin said his team is opposed to this move.
