Rapper Future has made Billboard chart history after scoring two consecutive no.1 albums in two weeks.
The “Honest” rapper created history after his self titled FUTURE album was replaced by surprise follow up release HNDRXX. The achievement becomes a first in the chart’s 61-year history since it began its Billboard 200 album chart in 1968.
Future’s HNDRXX album bumped his self titled effort down to no.2 after selling more than 121,000 units. The rapper described the album as the project “he has always wanted to do,” gaining praises from critics since its release.
The last artiste to have both no.1 and no.2 albums simultaneously was Prince, whose “The Very Best OF Prince” and “Purple Rain” soundtrack occupied both positions following his tragic death. However, prior to Future no artiste had ever previously replaced themselves in no.1 charting position.
