Foota Hype Case Dismissed, Dancehall Selector Still Detained By US Immigration

Foota Hype’s immigration case has been dismissed.

The veteran Dancehall selector got the great news on Thursday, December 19 when he appeared before an immigration judge in Miami, Florida. Unfortunately, he still remains in custody of the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

Foota Hype, whose real name is Oneil Thomas, was detained on Saturday, December 14, on arriving at Port Everglades Seaport aboard the Independence of the Seas, from Falmouth, Jamaica.

The outspoken Dancehall personality had been aboard the Jamrock Reggae Cruise which had traveled to Jamaica from Florida and back to the US.

Foota Hype was held by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) for further review of his travel documents and admissibility status. He has been in custody at the Krome Service Processing Center ever since.

While the case has been dismissed, the Jamaican Consulate in Miami said the immigration lawyers requested more time to resolve the overall immigration concerns.

Meanwhile, Foota Hype is in good spirits. He informed the Consulate that he had access to his lawyer and was treated well while detained.
