Female Dancehall Artistes Called Out Over Lack Of Unity

Women in Dancehall are being called over their lack of support for each other.

Some Dancehall insiders are claiming that women within the industry are their own worst enemies, as they struggle to tear each other down instead of working together.

Dancehall Queen Carlene said while the local music industry is predominantly dominated and run by males, it is usually the women tear each other down.

She claims that women have it especially difficult in the Dancehall, as they have to fight to remain relevant in a male-dominated industry but often that fight ends up being against each other.

“Females are the first to call another woman out or to bash her for something. When you have a woman lashing out at another woman for expressing herself, what do you expect from others?” she questioned.

Several female entertainers including Stylish and Macka Diamond have since agreed with Carlene, claiming that women need to start backing each other in music, or they will never be taken seriously.

However, it must be noted that this is not always the case as several in recent years several female acts have openly supported each other including Shenseea and Spice.

The two have received significant praise for their support of each other, especially on social media, in a time when a rivalry was being encouraged by fans.
