FBI, ATF to set up offices at US Embassy in Jamaica

The United States Embassy has announced plans to set up offices for The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) in Jamaica.

The announcement was made by United States Ambassador to Jamaica, Luis G Moreno, at a Jamaica-US Bilateral Relations forum on Tuesday.

Both agencies will reported be set up at the Embassy of the United States of America, in Liguanea, Kingston.

According to Moreno, the officers from both agencies will help to train local law enforcement personnel, and essentially assist in fight against crime and violence.

The Ambassador emphasized key advantages of having offices in the island such the ATF’s forensic tests, which will greatly enhance the fight against the drugs for gun trade.
