American Producer Dr. Dre  is giving back to Compton as he recently made a USD $10 Million donation to the construction of a performing arts center for a high school in the city.

According to reports, the center will feature a variety of creative resources and a 1,200-seat theater and will be part of the new Compton High School, and is set to break ground in 2020. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

“My goal is to provide kids with the kind of tools and learning they deserve,” Dre said in a press statement. “The performing arts center will be a place for young people to be creative in a way that will help further their education and positively define their future.” ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
In addition to his multi million dollar donation, Dre will continue raising additional funds for the project. Once complete, the school will be home to 2,500 students. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

The Compton High School project will be Dr. Dre’s second major philanthropy project towards the improvement of Southern California education. Back In 2013, Dre and his business partner Jimmy Iovine contributed $70 million to the University of Southern California to create the USC Jimmy Iovine and Andre Young Academy for Arts, Technology and the Business of Innovation. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Vice chairman of the Compton Unified School District’s Board of Education, Micah Ali, said: “Dr. Dre has stepped up and partnered with the school district to make this vision a reality. A true act of giving back to the community in a way that will directly impact the ever-resilient efforts of our students to rise-up and succeed. A true act of leading the way and standing as an example to others of how never to forget where you came from.”
