Dominica Prime Minister rescued after losing roof in Hurricane Maria

Momemts after Hurricane Maria made landfall on Dominica around 9:15 p.m Monday night, the island’s Prime Minister, Roosevelt Skerrit, took to Facebook to share his horrific experience.

PM Skerrit says he had to be rescued after his roof was blown off and his house began to flood.

“My roof is gone. I am at the complete mercy of the hurricane. House is flooding,” he wrote. Which was followed by another update, “I have been rescued.”

Hurricane Maria makes landfall on Dominica as Category 5 storm

Earlier Skerrit posted “We do not know what is happening outside. We not dare look out. All we are hearing is the sound of galvanize flying. The sound of the fury of the wind. As we pray for its end!.”

“Certainly no sleep for anyone in Dominica. I believe my residence may have sustained some damage.”
