Ninjaman is set to undergo surgery after he was hospitalised with an undisclosed illness on Tuesday.
The 54-year-old incarcerated dancehall veteran, real name Desmond John Ballentine, was admitted at a St Andrew hospital after experiencing severe pain.
“He was admitted to a medical facility yesterday and they are planning to do the surgery today. He has been complaining of feeling pain for a while now and, with the cold weather, he is in excruciating pain so it had to be done,” a source told Loop News.
Ninjaman was sentenced to life imprisonment in December last year in the Home Circuit Court in Kingston. He was given 25 years at hard labour for the 2009 murder of Ricardo ‘Ricky Trooper’ Johnson and 20 years for shooting with intent.
The Don Gorgon’s co-accused, his son Janeil and Dennis Clayton were also sentenced to life in prison. Ninjaman’s lawyer, Valerie Neita Robertson says the former Downsound records artiste will appeal the conviction.
