Dancehall Artists Labelled As Hypocrites After Plea For Peace

Dancehall critics are lashing out at artists who are currently begging criminals to stop the crime and violence across Jamaica.

Since PM Andrew Holness recently declared Mount Salem, St James, a Zone of Special Operations (ZOSO) in an attempt to dismantle gangs affiliated with the area, several hardcore Dancehall artists including Aidonia and Tommy Lee Sparta have called for peace and unity.

However according to critics, these artists among others are just being hypocrites as they need to stop glorifying criminals in their songs.

Tommy Lee Sparta Says Vybz Kartel Affiliation Affecting His Career

“Yes we understand music is an art however we need peaceful songs to promote unity and motivation the youths of the country,” one critic told The Tropixs. “Artists are giving huge shoutouts to their criminal affiliates in ‘diss’ tracks and name drop hostile communities as if it’s something good and now want us to believe they are for the greater good of the country? Hypocrisy at its finest i tell you”
