Damian Marley walked away with the MOBO Award for “Best Reggae Act” on Wednesday night.
The international Reggae artist was up against a competitive field which included Popcaan who won the award in 2015 and 2016, Alkaline, Aidonia and Chronixx at the 22nd Music of Black Origin (MOBO) Awards held at the First Direct Arena in Leeds, England.
Best Reggae Album Nominees Announced For 60th Grammy
Marley who has been nominated six times, previously won the award in 2005. This year’s win comes after the success of his chart-topping “Stony Hill” album, the project was also nominated for a Grammy award in the “Best Reggae Album” category on Tuesday.
The MOBO Awards were established in 1996 by Kanya King and Andy Ruffell. It recognises the year’s top achievers in black or urban music.
