Cops Assure Patrons Safety At Reggae Sumfest Despite Recent Crime Wave

The St James police have assured fans that despite a crime epidemic patrons will be safe at this year’s staging of Reggae Sumfest.

Cops say despite a recent wave of crime on violence which has blighted the parish of St James, international and local patrons have nothing to fear, as their safety and security will be treated with paramount importance.

The timely guarantee from the lawmen comes as several patrons recently expressed concern about the recent state of affairs within the parish, which has recorded an alarming 130 murders since January, a 14% increase compared to last year.

However, according Senior Superintendent (SSP) Marlon Nesbeth, the festival has an impeccable safety record, and this year will be no different, as they will dedicate all the available resources to ensure the festival goes off without a hitch.

Festival director Joe Bogdanovich also shared similar sentiments to the Superintendent, saying that despite concerns the festival will be adequately secured, and that the lawmen will do all within their power.

Reggae Sumfest will be celebrating its 25th anniversary in 2017, and is scheduled to run from July 16 to 22.
