An alleged gunman is now in police custody after he was detained by a police officer following a fatal shooting incident along Henderson Avenue in Olympic Gardens, St Andrew on Sunday evening.
According to reports, one person was fatally shot after residents heard several loud explosions coming from a vehicle, which was travelling along Henderson Avenue. The car later collided with a utility pole.
Cops say the driver exited the vehicle brandishing a firearm while attempting to flee the scene, however, his efforts were foiled after he was apprehended by a nearby police officer was conveniently in the area.
A Browning 9mm pistol, which had a magazine containing two rounds was reportedly taken from the man’s possession.
The unidentified man who was shot during the incident was rushed to hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Police are still investigating the incident.
