Conkarah and Shaggy have created history becoming the first Jamaican artistes to secure the number one spot on the Billboard Mexico Airplay Chart with their smash hit Banana.
Reggae singer Conkarah linked up with Grammy-winning artiste Shaggy for Banana almost a year ago. The track was released on August 16, 2019 and currently has over 11 million views on YouTube.
Banana then received a DJ FLe – Minisiren Remix two months ago which went viral on popular social media app TikTok and amassed 13 million streams on Conkarah’s YouTube channel.
Millions of users on the app joined the #BANANADROP dance challenge including Jason Derulo, Charli D’amelio, Nicole Scherzinger, Chiara Ferragni, and Neymar which saw the song gaining over 27 million views to become the #1 Sound on TikTok.
To date, Banana’s official audio, along with its “DJ FLe – Minisiren Remix” have over 430 million combined global streams.
The track ranks at #5 on Shazam’s “Top 200 Global” and #12 on Spotify’s “Global Viral 50”. The popular selection is a modern and high-spirited transformation of the traditional Jamaican folk song, “Day-O (The Banana Boat Song)”.
Last month, Banana peaked at number one on Billboard’s Mexico Ingles Airplay chart.
Banana is Reggae artiste Conkarah’s breakthrough single. The track was also featured on Shaggy’s new album “Hot Shot 2020” which was released on July 10th.
