Cedella Donates Rare Bob Marley Albums To Jamaica50 Time Capsule

Bob Marley’s eldest daughter Cedella has donated a rare set of her father’s albums to the Jamaica50 Time Capsule.

The daughter of the Reggae legend gifted the complete set of the icon’s nine studio albums as well as two live recordings, including “Catch A Fire,” ” and “Exodus,” which was declared the Best Album of the Twentieth Century in 2001 by Time magazine.

The time capsule, which will be sealed at the end of the August, is scheduled to be reopened in 2062 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Jamaican Independence.

According to Cedella, the albums represent a significant period of my father’s life and musical career and was instrumental in establishing Jamaica and reggae music on the world stage.

Cedella says she hopes the message of her father’s music can continue to captivate and inspire its audiences when the capsule is finally reopened just as much as it has for the last few decades.

Other items donated to the time capsule include Maroon and Taíno artifacts, photos of Jamaican prime ministers and governors general, as well as items of popular culture such as a poster of Dancehall queen Carlene.
