Buju Sends Fans Warm Message Amid Corona Panic

Buju Banton has sent fans a message of hope amid fears of the corona pandemic.

On Wednesday, the Reggae superstar shared a warm message with his over 1 million fans on Instagram. The 41-second voice message encouraged fans to remain hopeful despite the current chaos.

“Greetings my people, this is serious. You have heard it from everyone, but I just wanted you to hear it from I man; please do your best to stay in. Think of everyone as the most vulnerable, and think that if you stay away and protect yourself, your community and especially the most vulnerable — our elderly; those who are compromised in their immune system. We are going to get through this,” he said.

“But we have to do the best and do the right things; stay in our homes. Social distancing is the new social norm, but it is the right thing to practice right now. We are one people, and we are all in this together,” he added.

The entertainer is the latest to take to social media urging fans to keep safe.

To date, Jamaica has confirmed 19 cases of the COVID 19 disease. On Thursday the country recorded its first death linked to the virus. The victim was a 79-year-old man was isolated at the Mandeville Regional Hospital.

On Friday Prime Minister Andrew Holness announced that Jamaica’s air & seaports will be closed to incoming passenger traffic. The measure will be implemented for 14 days before it is reviewed.
