Buju Banton Donates $3M Festival Song Prize To Poultry Project At Children’s Home

Reggae icon Buju Banton has donated his JM$3 Million cash prize winnings from this year’s Festival Song Competition to the Sunbeam Children’s Home in Spring Village, St. Catherine.

Banton won the 2020 Festival Song Competition with his song “I Am A Jamaican”.

The Grammy-winning entertainer made the donation to aid in constructing a poultry/egg layers project at the facility.

“An egg production venture, that upon completion, should provide a sustainable income stream for the childcare facility and employable skills for wards. The layers project will provide training in sound work ethics for all fifty (50) boys,” The Buju Banton foundation wrote on Instagram.

Additionally, it will serve as a temporary means of voluntary employment for those unable to attend school, for any period.
