Bugle has hailed Vybz Kartel and Buju Banton as two of his biggest role models.

The “What We Gonna Do” deejay has hailed both veteran superstars as two of his biggest musical influences.

Bugle made the proclamation during his performance at Jamaica Rum festival last Saturday.

During his performance Bugle surprised fans by whipping out a medley of Buju classics as part of his set. The deejay would then go on to explain his longstanding respect for the Reggae superstar.

“People who have watched my journey as a recording artiste from the beginning will know I started off with the name Bugle Banton, that part of the performance was to show that respect and love for his music and craft,” Bugle told The STAR.

The singjay would also declare his respect for incarcerated deejay Vybz Kartel, calling him a big influence. “Man like Kartel do a lot of good and he probably made a bad decision,” Bugle said.

According to Bugle, the Worl Boss instrumental in helping to foster the new generation of Dancehall stars. He would go on to list entertainers such as Popcaan, Blak Ryno, Jah Vinci, and Tommy Lee.

Bugle lamented that people often forget the good the deejay while focusing on the negative.

The deejay also made reference to several other veterans who helped him along his journey including Sizzla and Bounty Killer.

“There are several other entertainers I could have talked about on stage, Sizzla Kalonji mek me do message music, Bounty Killer convince me to show the people certain things,” he said.

Over the years Bugle has remained one of the most consistent lyricists in Dancehall music. He is best known for hits such as; Doa, What We Gonna Do, Journeys, and Blame Life.
