Bob Marley Rules Billboard Reggae Charts Leading Up To Birthday Celebrations

Bob Marley has topped the Billboard Reggae Charts yet again.

Bob Marley’s Legend: The Very Best of Bob Marley and The Wailers, has topped the new look Billboard Reggae Albums.

The album, which was first released in 1984 as Legend, tops the chart leading up to the late Reggae icon’s 75th birthday celebration on February 6.

The album debuted nine years before Billboard’s reggae table was even introduced. It has remained one of the most successful albums of all time.

Over the years the album has been reproduced several times, selling more than 28 million copies worldwide.

Legend is currently number 80 on the 200 Albums chart and number 33 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart.

According to Billboard, the album remarkably still sells between 3,000 and 5,000 copies each week.

The new-look chart sees a number of older titles re-entering the chart which were released years ago.

According to Billboard, this is in keeping with developing trends and the way music is consumed by fans via different streaming platforms.

The new charting measures also sees Shaggy’s Best of Shaggy: The Boombastic Collection claim the N0.2 spot, 12 years after its release.

Fellow Jamaican Koffee’s EP Rapture rises to number seven, marking its 31st week in the top 10.
