Birdman faces lawsuit over “Respek”

Cash Money boss Birdman may end up paying for “Respek” after a man who owns the trademark threatened to sue the Hip Hop pioneer.

Following his infamous Power 106’s the Breakfast Club interview, Birdman made sure he cashed out on his viral “Respek” catch phrase and began selling t-shirts and even dropping a song to promote it.

The Cash Money boss who claims he made in excess of $100,000 from the merchandise, may eventually face a lawsuit over the catch phrase.

According to TMZ “Respek” is actually a trademarked clothing line owned by JV, and was registered back in 2005.

Sources say the trademark owner, JV, has requested a discussion with Birdman through his lawyers before he considers a lawsuit.

Respek clothing line is described as a casual apparel company which sells t-shirts, hats and other merchandise on Facebook.
