Billboard has named Beenie Man’s “Girls Dem Sugar” as one of the 100 Greatest Songs of the year 2000.

The Dancehall superstar’s smash hit, which also featured Mya, has been named among Billboards top tracks for that year.

Billboard has been celebrating the year 2000 all week, calling it one of the richest years in quality music. To mark the celebrations the magazine decided to list the 100 best songs for the year.

Beenie Man’s ‘Girls Dem Sugar’ charted at 84 on the list, noted as a glossy, scratch heavy club anthem.

The track appeared on Beenie Man’s Grammy-winning album ‘Art and Life.’ It peaked at 54 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts back in 2000, and also peaked at 16 on the Billboards Hot R&B/Hip-hop Songs chart.

On Monday Beenie took to Instagram to celebrate the accomplishment by posting a screenshot of the article. “It all boils down to moments like these,” he captioned the post.

In 2017, ‘Girls Dem Sugar’ was also ranked 7th on Billboards 12 best dancehall and Reggaeton choruses of the 21st century.

Beenie Man continues to be a relevant force within Dancehall music, scoring numerous hits throughout the years. The entertainer has enjoyed an almost 4-decade long career and has been performing since the age of 9.
