Beenie Man Donates $300,000 To Sickle Cell Unit

Beenie Man has committed $300,000 to the sickle cell unit at the University Hospital of the West Indies (UHWI) in St Andrew, through his charity foundation.

The Grammy-winning Dancehall superstar recently pledged the donation following a successful staging of his Summer Sizzle concert series a few weeks ago.

According to Beenie Man, he decided to make the donation towards the unit as it is a situation that hits close to home.

The deejay revealed that one of his children, Moses Davis Jr, actually suffers from the disease and is treated at the hospital at least 3 times a year, so the hospital serves as a second family to his family.

It was revealed by hospital officials that the donation will primarily be used to help fund a summer camp for teens living with the disease and also to raise awareness about the disease.

The SCU expressed its deep gratitude towards the deejay’s charity foundation, thanking them not only for their monetary contribution but also for their continued personal interaction with the children.

The Beenie Man Foundation was officially launched back in July with Beenie Man’s daughter, Ikyra Davis, and his son Moses Davis Jr, among the board of directors and Beenie Man as chairman.
