Andrew Holness Promises Divisive Actions In Fight Against Crime

Prime Minister Andrew Holness has declared that his Government is now prepared to take firm and decisive measures to address Jamaica’s alarming crime problem.

The Prime Minister made the declaration during Fontana Pharmacy’s 50 anniversary in Madeville recently.

“We have reached the point where we are prepared to take these firm and resolute measures to ensure that the crime monster does not destabilise the promising future that is in store for Jamaica.”

“I know people in Montego Bay especially are very distressed by what they see playing out on the streets. But this will take great understanding and tolerance from the people because this fight against crime is not just the police, not just Government.”

“It takes everyone to reach the point of understanding that the Government must act and act in a resolute fashion, however with respect for the rights and dignity of the people,” said Holness.
