Alkaline Creates Dancehall History Once Again

Alkaline is once again in the Dancehall history books.

The Vendetta deejay is the first Jamaican-based artiste to reach over 1 million subscribers on popular video-sharing website YouTube.

The only other Jamaican entertainer’s VEVO channel to celebrate the milestone is international superstar Sean Paul with 1.4 million subscribers.

Following the ‘Richer and Richer’ deejay is Vybz Kartel with 940,000 and newly crowned “Queen of Dancehall” Spice with 725,000.

Incarcerated Dancehall superstar Vybz Kartel was named the most-streamed artiste on YouTube with a whopping 25.4 million views out of Jamaica.

While Alkaline secured the second spot with 25.3 million views, he was followed by Popcaan with 19.4 million, Masicka who racked up 15.2 million, while Dancehall newcomer Rygin King got over 11 million views.

Vybz Kartel and Alkaline were the top streamed artistes in Montego Bay with almost 455,000 views each. The ‘Unruly Boss’ Popcaan received 273,000, Rygin King got 246,000 views from his hometown and Masicka was in ‘top form’ with 225,000.
