Jamaican swimmer Alia Atkinson equaled her own world record in the 100 meters breaststroke at the Fina/airweave Swimming World Cup meet in Paris.

The talented Jamaican swimmer moved on from her disappointing Rio Olympics campaign with a scorching display.

She defeated Olympic bronze medalist Katie Meili of the United States who finished second in a time of 1 minute 03.52 seconds while Olympic silver medallist Yulia Effimova of Russia was third in 1 minute 04.14.

She also managed to secure a silver medal finish in the women’s 200 meters medley final when she clocked 2 minutes 07.89 seconds.  The event was won by Katinka Hosszu of Hungary who clocked 2 minutes o6.64.

Atkinson infamously became the first black woman to set a FINA World Swimming record in Doha, Qatar in December 2014.
