The security forces have recorded another significant breakthrough Following last week’s state of emergency declaration as they seized an AK-47 rifle and a handgun during a joint police/military operation in Flanker in Montego Bay.
The Jamaica Defense Force (JDF) say they seized an Ak-47 and Glock pistol, along with two magazines and several rounds of ammunition during an operation along a section of the Flanker community called “Rifle Lane.”
The find brings the number of weapons recovered since a state of emergency was declared for the parish last Thursday to four, including a Kalashnikov rifle and six live rounds which was also found within the same community.
Police have theorized that the Kalashnikov is the same weapon used in a murder along Sunset Boulevard near the Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay recently.
Investigators say the weapons are set to undergo ballistic and forensic testing to determine their history.
