Enjoying arguably the best year of his career, dancehall star Aidonia appears to be on a resolute path to conquer new terrains amid broadening his musical horizon.

Back from a three-week stint in Europe where he connected with new and existing fans while reaffirming his brand. The 4th Genna boss has now turned his attention to Africa, a growing market for Reggae and Dancehall that has the potential to eclipse Reggae-havens Europe and Japan in the foreseeable future.

With his sight firmly fixed on the Motherland, Aidonia late last week released a collaborative effort titled ‘My Queen’ featuring Ghanian superstar Shatta Wale. Recorded in New York City the Platinum Kids/Calli B produced single will be featured on their upcoming EP titled ‘Platinum Kids and Friends’ which is set for release later this year.

“In recent times I have been making a greater impact internationally especially in North America. I just got back from Europe and the support was overwhelming. So now we are looking into other markets where we can expand brand Aidonia and Africa is nicely poised. They have been calling for some time now so we are finally answering that call. This collaboration with Shatta Wale is just the first of several major projects in the work for the rest of the quarter.” – Aidonia explained.

Also on the international front, the ‘Banga’ hitmaker continues to soar with his latest club anthem ‘Yeah Yeah’ which on Friday (September 1) was added to mainstream radio in Britain. The single was annexed to the ‘B-List’ of BBC 1Xtra’s Playlist which means the track will now enjoy premium day-time rotation alongside the likes of A-listers such as Drake, Rihanna, Jay-Z, Beyonce, 21 Savage, Rick Ross, Cardi B, Busta Rhymes, French Montana among others. A feat accomplished by only a select group of Jamaican acts. A seemingly elated Aidonia said he was pleased with the revelation,

“The song has been doing extremely well but the news of its addition to BBC caught me totally by surprise. I was made aware by a member of my management team and I just want to say a big thank you to everyone including the fans who were integral in making this happen.”

Locally, Aidonia wrapped up a pair of exhilarating performances at the just concluded Smirnoff IMAGE and the Pepsi Refresh Tour finale. The deejay his now back in the studio working on several upcoming audio and visual releases for the festive season.
