Nothing compares to the joy, excitement, freedom and euphoria of Carnival.
It’s like an addiction and once you get that first taste, you become hooked and year after year, it’s something you just can’t do without!
And that’s essentially what “Find Yuh Way” is about…satisfying that Carnival addiction regardless of circumstance.
We could be sick, broke, on the brink of losing a job or a relationship, or even have a serious ‘tabanca’ but there’s something about that Carnival addiction that compels us to find a way!
Any true Trinbagonian will admit, that when it comes to Carnival, especially feting and playing mas, we ‘doh make joke’.
Your boss could say, if you’re absent from work tomorrow, you will be fired; your girlfriend or boyfriend could tell you, if you go to that fete, the relationship is over and even worse, your landlord could say that if you don’t pay your rent tomorrow, you will be evicted…but somehow these things don’t seem to bother us and nothing will stop us from enjoying our Carnival…a true Trini will always find a way!
That’s why I sing:
“They try to stop me from feting but I go be dey anyway;
They try to stop me from drinking…ah done by d bar already;
They try to stop me from wining…ah down on d ground already;
Cah stop my addiction, lock me up if yuh want…ah go always find muh way!”
