Producer Darren ‘Dakrome’ Levy has been building a reputable name for himself on the underground circuit since his start in the music business.

The fast-rising producer has been receiving a lot of praise for his impressive new hits, Squeeze, by Masicka, and 40 Ball, by Tommy Lee Sparta. Released earlier this year, both songs have been well received, gaining popularity on the local and international markets.

The young prodigy is elated with the overall response that he has been getting from these two tracks.

“People message me every day expressing their love for the rhythms and how the rhythms stand out and sound different. The songs are getting constant airplay in places like Europe, Africa and US and on the Latin market, so the feedback has been great,” he said.

Success is imminent for Dakrome because he prides himself in being different and equally passionate about his music. His persistent nature also adds to the recipe for success.

“It is not the money that motivates me. It is a genuine love for what I do. This is what separates me from a lot of these so-called producers. My passion is what drives me to produce good music for the world to hear,’ he said.

But the music business can be tough, and it is great when you have musical influencers like Mr Biggs of Platinum Camp Record to assist on a journey.

“Biggs saw something special in me, which is why he decided to work with me. I want to give him a big shout-out and a special thanks to everyone that helped along this road,” he said.

The Clarendon native has quite a few new projects on the horizon, including a single with dancehall artiste Kalado.
