A 30-year-old woman who impersonated a Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) agent has pleaded guilty for her role in a Jamaican based lottery scam operation, according to the United States Department of Justice (DOJ).

The woman, Vania Lee Allen pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud, and also false impersonation of an employee of the United States DOJ officials say.

She was accused of co-conspiring with an accomplice in Jamaica to defraud an elderly resident of Evans, Georgia. Officials say she convinced the resident that she was FBI agent and told the victim to continue making payments to her accomplice so investigations could continue.

Allen faces a maximum five years in prison.
