A 38-year-old woman was shot dead in Admiral Town, Kingston on Wednesday night.
The deceased has been identified as Keisha Hankle, of Chamberlain Road, Kingston 12.
According to reports, Hankle was among a group of people along the roadway at about 7:45 p.m., when a man approached them on foot and opened gunfire, hitting her in the upper body.
Hankle was taken to hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
