The fate of incarcerated Dancehall superstar Vybz Kartel will now be decided by a panel of judges.

The Court of Appeal is set to make its final decision in the legal challenge filed by popular entertainers Vybz Kartel and Shawn Storm against their murder convictions after all legal arguments were presented.

According to Justice Dennis Morrison, President of the Court of Appeal, they cannot indicate exactly when a final decision will be made but they can assure all parties that the case will be given some priority attention.

The final decision rests with a panel of judges which includes Morrison, justice Frank Williams, and Patrick Brooks, who all listened to legal arguments from both the defense and prosecution attorneys over the last two weeks.

Vybz Kartel’s lawyers spent 5 days trying to destroy the credibility of several elements of the prosecution’s case, including a damning text message which they say was actually sent weeks before the alleged murder.

The entertainer and his co-accused Shawn Campbell, Kahira Jones, and Andre St John were convicted in 2014 for the murder of Clive “Lizard” Williams, who was killed at a house in Havendale, St Andrew, in August 2011.
