Vybz Kartel’s legal team is extremely confident ahead of the incarcerated Dancehall superstar’s appeal trial set for early next year.
According to one of the ‘Mhm Hm’ deejay’s attorneys, Valerie Neita-Robertson, she has complete faith in the court of appeal, “we have confidence that if we put our arguments properly, we will be listened to and then it will be a matter for them [the Court] to deliver their judgement,” she said.
Neita-Robertson added that the deejay’s legal team is now making sure that everything is in order before the appeal gets underway with a series of case management dates.

Vybz Kartel is serving a life sentence for the murder of Clive ‘Lizard’ Williams. He was convicted along with Shawn Campbell, Andre St John, and Kahira Jones in the Home Circuit Court in March 2014 after a 65-day trial, the longest in Jamaican history.
The self-proclaimed ‘Worl Boss’ must serve 35 years before becoming eligible for parole. Shawn Campbell and Kahira Jones, who were sentenced to serve a minimum of 25 years, and Andre St John, who can apply for parole after serving 15 years of a life sentence.
Despite being behind bars for nearly six years, his music still dominates the local and international airwaves.
