Tommy Lee Sparta will remain behind bars for at least for another week.

A habeas corpus application seeking his release was filed by his lawyers in the St. James Parish Court on Tuesday morning.

On hearing the application, the judge has ordered that the police are to justify Tommy Lee’s continued detention by next Tuesday, May 29.

Tommy Lee Sparta was arrested just moments after leaving the Magnum Kings and Queens of Dancehall finals on Sunday. The popular entertainer allegedly stopped at an ATM in St Andrew where masked police officers with guns accosted him and brought him to the Half Way Tree Police Station in Kingston.

He was then to the Freeport Police Station in St James on Monday.

According to reports, detectives of the Counter-Terorrism and Organised Crime Investigation Branch (C-TOC) and the Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) want to question Sparta in relation to organised crimes in St. James.

Tommy Lee is being held under the state of emergency powers.
