Fast-rising Dancehall deejay Teejay hopes to break into the international market following his recent signing with Romeich Entertainment.

The “Uptop Boss” deejay spoke candidly with the Entertainment Report’s Anthony Miller about his career on Saturday where he shared his aspirations of going mainstream.

While agreeing with Miller that Sean Paul is the only Jamaican act to dominate the global music industry, Teejay pointed out that the Grammy-winning artiste’s ‘pretty looks’ could have contributed to his success.

“Probably addi pretty looks from morning did do that fi Sean Paul enuh,” The Montego Bay-based deejay said while laughing, “…. or probably a who did a manage him or market him at the time.”

Teejay also pointed out that the new acts in Dancehall such as Popcaan, Govana, Tommy Lee Sparta and himself are currently more influential locally than the “Gimme The Light” deejay.

The “Up Top” deejay is confident that with the help of his new team and marketing, he can breakdown barriers and enter the international scene within the next two years.

Teejay also spoke about relocating to Kingston, changing his attitude, and switching between hardcore lyrics and songs for the ladies. Watch full interview below.
