Spice will be bringing her Black Hypocrisy Movement to university students next week.

To commemorate Black History month, the Dancehall entertainer will be speaking to students of the University Of Technology (UTech) in Kingston on Monday at 3pm.

“This Monday February 18th come out and let your voices be heard. Let’s Join together to make a change. STOP DEGRADING “DARK SKIN” BLACK WOMEN #BlackHypocrisyMovement kicks off at University of technology 3pm YOU ALL ARE INVITED,” Spice wrote.

Last year Spice tackled colourism and skin bleaching with her chart-topping “Black Hypocrisy” single.

Spice made headlines after uploading a photo to Instagram with a light complexion to promote the single. The deejay revealed that for years she had to deal with harsh criticism about the colour of her skin, often by those who were the same complexion as her. Pointing out that black people are very critical of their own kind, Spice urges people of colour to love the skin they are in.

“I think I am mostly called black by my own race, and I am trying to please them so I am going to see what they have to say now,” she said during an interview, adding that she has never received certain comments from other races, because “it’s always my own people saying ‘she black eeh’,” among other distasteful descriptions.”
