Its officially, Shenseea can’t please Jamaicans.

The Dancehall singjay came under fire last week after she uploaded a preview of her recent interview with Beats 1 on Apple Music.

Shenseea stopped by Apple Music offices to speak with media personality Nadeska Alexis about her Dancehall career, uplifting women through her music and her steamy new collaboration with rapper Tyga.

Unfortunately, a few Dancehall fans had an issue with the “ShenYeng Anthem” singer speaking standard English during the candid interview.

“Keep the patois, it’s you! We love it but i get it tho,” one fan wrote. Shenseea quickly responded that she had to properly to appeal to a wider audience, she added that should should stop acting like speaking standard english is a crime.

“No sis, patois is not me…. patois is A PART of me…… I’m not doing music for Jamaicans alone! Wouldn’t it be extremely hard for people who are not from the Caribbean to understand me?,” Shenseea questioned. “Y’all need to stop acting like it’s a crime when JAMAICANS speak standard English, we need to let the world know patios is not the only language we speak!.”
