Sean Paul has called out the Jamaican Government over air pollution affecting young Athletes at the National Stadium.
The international Dancehall superstar recently took to Instagram to call out the Jamaican Government over the placement of a welding facility which is on the grounds of the National Stadium.
According to the “Mad Love” deejay, the facility has no business being next to the national pool, basketball or netball courts as the air pollution could potentially lead to serious and long-term effects for the young athletes who train there.
The entertainer took to Instagram to declare that he would be starting a petition to have the facility relocated, and is even willing to fund the move himself if given the go-ahead by the relevant authorities.
“Everyday mi swim mi taste metal inna mi mouth, metal going into the pool and into we eyes… that’s very bad bro,” the deejay said.
The deejay’s concerns were met with significant support online as many fans agreed with his assessment, calling for the welding plant to be relocated.
“Respect SEAN PAUL for petitions for removing the welding plant to a different location. MUCH RESPECT for health advocates for the athletes of JAMAICA, BLESSED,” one fan commented.
The rallying cry is seen as in keeping with the deejay’s recent appointment as one of the Caribbean’s ambassadors toward climate change by a coalition of global organizations.
