International Dancehall superstar Sean Paul was earlier this month given special recognition by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) for selling more than 26 million records in the United States.

Over the course of his hugely successful career the deejay has managed to become one of only six Jamaican acts to have platinum certification in the United States, a list which also includes Shaggy, Damian ‘Jr Gong’ Marley, OMI, Cherine Anderson, and Ini Kamoze.

When asked about his advice for other local acts who hope achieve a similar level of international success the deejay gave a very simple but memorable response “follow your heart.”

According to the Grammy-winning Jamaican artist, although everyone has a different path he believes aspiring acts should look to some of the positive things that their predecessors have achieved and possibly try emulate and add to that structure and situation.

The “Get Busy” deejay enjoyed a very successful year last year after racking up a series of Billboard hits, including smash collaborations with international superstars Sia and Clean Bandit.
